|Organized by the Social Welfare Action Alliance (SWAA) and the Poor Peoples Economic Human Rights Campaign (PPEHRC)|
This conference is being organized to provide a forum for people to share ideas, inspire, and motivate each other. We will strive for collective actions based in sound analyses - actions that can be taken locally, regionally, and nationally when we leave this gathering. Abolish poverty in these times of increasing joblessness, homelessness, hunger, and unemployment? We say "yes" and turn to the wisdoms of Martin Luther King, who envisioned an organized "unsettling force" built across racial lines that would spark a "revolution of values" to reorganize our society.
Important Registration Update (June 4, 2009)
Like so many other surprises these days, our original conference hotel (Hotel Louisville) has been designated for downsizing by corporate and is closing. Our host organization, Women In Transition, have secured an alternate.
The Fairfield Inn and Suites
100 E. Jefferson St. (corrected address)
Louisville, KY. 40202
Rooms are a slightly more expensive but still reasonable: Prices are $92 (before tax), and $105.81 (after tax) per night. You still have to call to make your own reservation, but let them know that you are with SWAA and/or PPEHRC to get the conference rate. The Hotel will be accepting reservations for conference attendees after Monday, June 8, 2009. This update is reflected on the current Conference Registration form (version 6.4.2009)
Want to get your institution to sponsor the conference? Download, edit and send the sample solicitation letter below. It is in MS Word format so you can fill in the recipient's and solicitor's names.
