Supporting Our Immigrant Neighbors: How Social Workers can Respond in this Moment

April 28, 2026
7:00 – 8:30pm Eastern Time (US & Canada)

Organized by the Social Welfare Action Alliance (SWAA)

  • How should social workers be involved in the defense of the rights of immigrants?

  • What can we do to support people who are under attack?

In this session two social workers will talk about their work supporting immigrants at a time when there are so much violence and backlash directed towards immigrants. They will also share some ideas about how social workers can be involved in protecting their neighbors both at work and at home. We will also ask participants to share ways that they and others in their human service communities have been active in immigrant defense.

National SWAA Steering Committee members Rosi Barbera and Larry Bresler will facilitate this discussion with two social workers who are currently doing immigrant justice work.

Please note that this will be a 90-minute session.

SWAA is funded only through memberships. These help us to maintain our website and Zoom accounts and offer honorariums to webinar hosts.
