The Social Welfare Action Alliance supports the Breathe Act which is a radical vision of public safety based on community self-determination and self-care. For far too long, reform after reform of policing has been touted as the best thing for change. None of them has worked. It is time to go to the roots and work together to create communities of care, using public funds in new ways to create equitable communities and transform society instead of increased support for police.

“History is clear that we cannot achieve genuine safety and liberation until we abandon police, prisons, and all punishment paradigms.”
